Made to order
Commission something
Most of what we make starts as somebody's idea. Tell us what you need — a bag sized to a specific camera, a replacement for something you wore out, a gift with initials on it. We'll tell you honestly whether we're the right shop for it.
We answer every inquiry, usually within two days. Commissions typically run 3–6 weeks depending on the queue.
How it's made
Four steps, no shortcuts
Choose the hide
Full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, bought by the side. We work around the scars rather than sanding them off.
Cut by hand
Patterns drafted on paper, cut with a round knife. Edges bevelled, sanded, burnished, and waxed.
Saddle stitch
Two needles, one waxed thread, every hole punched by hand. If a stitch breaks, the seam holds.
Finish & sign
Hardware set, edges finished, maker's mark stamped. Then it sits a day before it ships.

Who we are
Three goats, one bench
3 Grumpy Goats started the way most small shops do — one project that got out of hand. What began as a replacement for a wallet that fell apart after eight months turned into a bench, a wall of tools, and an unreasonable amount of opinion about thread tension.
We make things the slow way because the fast way doesn't last. Glued seams let go. Bonded leather flakes. Chrome-tanned hides look the same in year ten as they did on day one, which sounds like a feature until you realise it means the thing never became yours.
Everything here is full-grain and vegetable-tanned, which means it scratches, darkens, and picks up the shape of how you actually use it. That's the point.

Questions we get
How long until my order ships?
In-stock pieces go out within 2–3 business days. Commissions run 3–6 weeks depending on the queue — we'll give you a real date before taking payment, not an optimistic one.
What leather do you use?
Full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, mostly from US tanneries. It starts stiff and light, then softens and darkens with use. We don't use bonded, genuine, or corrected-grain leather.
Can you repair something I already own?
Often, yes — resewing seams, replacing hardware, new straps. Send photos through the commission form and we'll tell you if it's worth doing.
Do you offer a warranty?
If a seam we stitched fails under normal use, we fix it free, no time limit. Leather that's scratched, stained, or worn in isn't a defect — that's the material doing its job.
How do I care for it?
Keep it dry, condition it once or twice a year, and use it. Vegetable-tanned leather doesn't want to be babied. A card of care instructions ships with every piece.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. International shipping is calculated at checkout. Duties and customs charges are the buyer's responsibility.
